For decades these works have remained outside the public eye, preserved in private estates and curated environments for twenty, thirty, and in some cases more than forty years. The Grey’s exists to present them.
Ivan M Grey
Ivan M Grey is the mandate owner and authorised representative of this private collection. Through long-standing international relationships and established trust within exclusive circles, he has been entrusted with the stewardship and presentation of these works. The house carries his name.
Each piece has been curated over time and made by master hands whose influence spans generations. The collection reaches from the eighteenth century through the defining movements of the modern era, and from the elemental origins of the earth’s rarest stones to the refined mastery of the greatest artistic hands of our time.
It represents heritage, scarcity and legacy, held together as a single offering rather than dispersed across a season of sales.
How a work is documented
Every entry carries the artist or maker, the title, the date, the medium, the dimensions and a catalogue note written from the material itself rather than from a press release. All of that is open to anyone. Behind it sit the documents: laboratory reports, certificates, condition reports and the ownership record, released to preferred access clients.
For the Emeralds Collection, each carving is accompanied by a gemological passport prepared by Gulf Gem Lab in Sharjah, giving the report number, the gross weight in carats, the measurement, the species and variety, the treatment status and a geographic origin opinion. The three Al Khamsa carvings hold reports 212966, 212967 and 212968, all dated 10 February 2026.
Where independent evidence does not exist, we say so in the catalogue note rather than leaving the reader to assume. Some works are made with the assistance of generative tools; where that is the case it is stated.
